On
the occasion of the third Geneva Watchmakers’ Grand Prix, which took
place on 20th November 2003 at the Grand Theatre in Geneva, the jury
awarded Piaget the "Ultra-thin watch Prize" for its Altiplano
XL model.
The
jury consisted of personalities and watchmaking specialists who acknowledged
Piaget’s mastery in ultra-thin movements and watches.
This
know-how has been a fundamental feature of the brand since 1956,
the year in which the 9P movement was launched.
It
revolutionised watch making as it was at that time the thinnest mechanical
movement in the world.
Once
freed of the technical constraints associated with the thickness
of movements, Piaget had free rein to create innovative designs.
